ABC is continuing this season's pattern of extending pickups to moderately performing new shows, reflecting the overall weakness of this year's group of rookies.
The network gave full-season orders to "Better With You," the weakest link in its Wednesday comedy lineup, and "No Ordinary Family," the creatively promising Tuesday drama, while also ordering four additional episodes of the Tuesday drama "Detroit 1-8-7."
It follows a pattern established by Fox, CBS, the CW and NBC, which also picked up shows averaging only so-so ratings.
Support for struggling shows only goes so far, however – ABC will not be ordering any additional episodes of the Wednesday law drama "The Whole Truth."
